The Role Of Eti-Osa LCDA In The Implementation Of LCDAS
Abstract
This study discussed the roles of Local Council Development Area in implementation of sustainable development goals in Nigeria. It investigated the role of LCDA in implementing development goals focusing on Eti-Osa, Lagos State (2015-2020). The study adopted quantitative methodology. Respondents from Eti-Osa Local Government formed the major sources of data. The instrument of data collection was structured questionnaires and multi-stage sampling technique was employed. Data from articles, journals, books (published and unpublished) and the internet complemented the major sources of data. Findings revealed that there is a high level of impact of the contributions of LCDA in the implementation of the SDGs. The study concluded that community development practice in Nigeria has not made meaningful impact on the lives of rural dwellers. It was recommended that, the LCDA and government should create new organizations and institutions charged with developing strategies for sustainable development goals just as NEEDS and SEEDS.
